In Conversation with Margaret Atwood
In 2019 we were delighted to work on the live cinema broadcast of Margaret Atwood in conversation at the National Theatre which was streamed to 1500 cinemas worldwide. The event was held in celebration of the release of The Testaments, Atwood’s much-anticipated sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale. This was JHI’s first foray into Live Cinema broadcasts and we worked closely with VINTAGE, National Theatre, the cinemas and of course Fane Productions who produced the event.
The highlights from the campaign include projection of the iconic Handmaid’s image on the National Theatre, live social media coverage and exclusives from the night itself, and the launch event at Waterstones Piccadilly the night before the event.
The live cinema event was followed by a sell-out tour across the UK and Ireland which we were also proud to work on. An international #AskAtwood social campaign was also established, encouraging users to submit their questions for Atwood. This trended on the night of the National Theatre broadcast, and continued to be used across the UK, Australia and New Zealand tours.
