Social Media and Content Manager


I graduated from the London College of Communication (UAL) with a BA (Hons) in journalism. I spent the following year working in retail, gaining experience both as a customer service assistant and in food hospitality.

My first industry position was as the content marketing agency, Seven, where I was Editorial and Fashion Assistant, and worked across a number of large retail clients, including Sainsbury’s, Weight Watchers and BonmarchĂ©. The role gave me invaluable experience of end-to-end content creation – from devising initial concepts through to writing long and short-form copy and managing a CMS. I was also very fortunate to work on major fashion ad campaigns and editorial shoots, both in the UK and abroad, where I learnt the ins and outs of creative shoot planning and production, as well as styling.

Three years later, I moved on to creative communications agency Portas – owned by retail consultant and broadcaster Mary Portas. Here, I was Editorial Manager, managing a team of two. I covered a number of fashion and lifestyle clients, like G-Star, Habitat and Westfield, and led editorial direction, social media and content planning. I owned 12 different channels across multiple clients, including online content platforms and all social touchpoints (organic and paid), and was responsible for growing the Sainsbury’s Home Instagram account from 0 to 100k followers organically in under 18 months. I oversaw the creative direction of all content and shot channel-specific assets for social.

I left Portas after two years to pursue freelance employment. When I saw that JHI were looking for a Social Media and Content Manager to work across Fane, Words Weekend and events, this felt like the perfect opportunity to apply my skills from the retail space to the events industry. I love that my role is creative and very hands-on, and it’s super-exciting to have joined the team at a time of expansion.
