Another Fabulous Fortnight for Team JHI

From event announcements to new shows openings to exciting international news, it’s been a whirlwind couple of weeks here! We’ll kick off this blog by celebrating the openings of some great projects. Musik had its first performance at the Leicester Square Theatre this week, featuring music from the Pet Shop Boys and an incredible performance from Frances Barber. Alex took a trip down to Plymouth to see Frantic Assembly’s I Think We Are Alone, a compelling and emotional take on isolation and family.

Now for a bit of JHI globetrotting as we had a couple of international show openings. MAMMA MIA! opened at the Tivoli Gardens, Denmark and there will be a return of the Norwegian production in Oslo next year. Further across Europe, John Paul Gaultier’s Fashion Freak Show opened in Moscow this week after a successful run in St Petersburg.

We also had many an on-sale and announcement this fortnight. In the shows world, these included Indecent Proposal, a new musical based on Jack Engelhard’s book and the 1993 film, and Romeo & Juliet at the Royal Albert Hall featuring internal ballet star Sergei Polunin.

When it comes to live events, we’ve be working closely with our friends at Fane on lots of great new announcements. These include a series of events for BBC 4’s Fortunately podcast with Fi Glover and Jane Garvey, a tour with Robert Webb to celebrate his new book Come Again and a special guest for Lady Glenconner’s Richmond Theatre show, The Crown’s Helena Bonham Carter! This week also saw the announcement of the return of Authors on Stage with the National Theatre with guests Sir Michael Parkinson, Elizabeth Day and Armistead Maupin and a second round of artists in the Words Weekend line-up, which includes Katie Piper, Adam Kay and… Bob Geldof, yes, you read that right!

Earlier this week, Lara and Nicole attended a presentation by Max Raabe where he performed some songs that he’ll be singing on his upcoming tour in his signature style, followed by a Q and A session. Ben attended the Van Gogh Immersive Experience in Leicester, which looked absolutely amazing! And, now just under a month away from its opening, we have some fantastic footage with the cast and creative team behind On Blueberry Hill, filmed by our very own Rhys.

As if all that isn’t enough for team JHI, we also had a great team-building away day and celebrated two birthdays!
